How to use the moon cycle to plan your month

If you’ve hung around me for any length of time, you know that I grew up watching the X-Files; I am fascinated by the mysterious, mystical, and unexplained aspects of our world. As an adult, that’s translated into a decades-long exploration of spirituality, mysticism, and studies of cosmic intelligence, archetypes, and rhythms.

In recent years, I’ve begun incorporating moon cycles into my monthly planning, goal setting, and creative and personal development.

If you’re looking for a way to infuse some lightness and fun while continuing on your quest to become the best version of yourself, but without all that pressure to become a perfect person, burn yourself out, or try to do it all, I’ve got a fun tool for you.

I created a Moon Mapping Workbook to help you harness the magic of the moon to infuse your monthly planning and goal achievement with greater ease and flow.

Working with the moon and its monthly cycle from darkness to full brightness to darkness again is a tangible, practical way to strengthen your intuition and focus on what really matters to you.

It is also helpful in achieving the growth goals that matter to you without stressing yourself out or forcing yourself to be in a constant hassle and toxic productivity mode.

Here’s what you need to know about working with the moon and its cycles to improve your well-being and life.

Approximately every 28 days, the moon goes through a cycle of waxing and waning, much in the same way that a woman who is menstruating goes through a process of growing, ovulating, and shedding. Historically, the moon has been considered a highly feminine aspect of the skies, and many cultures have paid homage to it for its luminous and mysterious ability to appear and disappear in a constant yet natural flow and cycle around our planet.

If you’re the kind of person who likes to structure your professional or personal development projects on a monthly calendar or quarterly basis, you can easily use the moon’s cycles to map out your projects, because each cycle lasts for approximately a month.

There’s a creative variation built into the cycles of the moon, which adds an extra layer of inspiration for people who pay attention to it. Not only will a moon cycle from the new moon, which goes from darkness to completely illuminated to complete darkness again over 28 days, but each new moon begins in a different part of the sky, which is associated with a specific zodiac sign. What that means is that each new moon can be seen as imbued with the qualities and characteristics of each of these different zodiac signs. It’s almost like choosing a new flavor of ice cream every month and allowing that influence and that flavor to play with and inspire the way you approach the pursuit of your monthly goals.

For example, at the time I’m writing this, we just had a new moon in Pisces. This means that the time of the month when the moon is totally dark took place when the sun was in Pisces and the moon was also in the part of the sky associated with Pisces. If you think about it, the moon’s darkness occurs when the Earth blocks the moon and shadows the moon from the sun. So it makes sense that the moon and the sun would be in the same part of the sky, which is why it looks as though the moon has completely disappeared, even though it hasn’t.

What’s unique about working with moon cycles instead of a traditional calendar is that each cycle includes several distinct phases, each of which represents a different type of energy—a specific “vibe” you can work with to facilitate an easier and more natural approach to achieving your intentions and goals.

In my next newsletter, I’ll give you a breakdown of each moon phase and what they represent in terms of energetic signature, the seasons, and (gasp!) the female reproductive cycle.

Until then, I encourage you to download this workbook and put it to use in your life!
