How to communicate more effectively with clients, colleagues, and loved ones - Elizabeth Hope Derby

How to communicate more effectively with clients, colleagues, and loved ones

Do you struggle to navigate challenging conversations, draft tactful yet effective emails, or communicate clearly with your colleagues, employees, and loved ones?

Listen, we’ve all been there. Honestly, self-esteem and self-trust are HUGE components of your ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others. You must feel safe enough internally to express yourself externally, otherwise your nervous system will shut you down with the ol’ fight-flight-freeze-fawn response. (And while I believe that you should speak your truth, even if your voice shakes, getting to the point where you can do it without having a panic attack and actually get the words out often takes some doing.)

That’s the emotional, internal-facing work of communication. Once you get to a point of internal confidence and self- and community-care where you have the physical capability of speaking your truth, you also need to do the strategic, external-facing work.

For that, I’ve given you some direct guidance.

In Episode 6 of Everyday Unicorn, I hand you a three-part framework for effective communication. Implement this process before you have that difficult conversation, host a potentially contentious meeting, or craft an important email, and you’ll be prepared to foster more meaningful connections in both your personal and professional relationships.

Tune in and you will:

  • Discover the 3-C framework for crafting effective communications, whether professional or personal.

  • Prepare for successful conversations by taking ownership of the outcome and prioritizing success for everyone involved.

  • Master the mindset that will allow you to better understand the other person’s perspectives and avoid the assumptions that sink otherwise fruitful conversations.
