Let’s face it: Just because we work hard to create something in our business or life DOESN’T mean we get the solution we want when we want it.
Delays, sidetracking, and postponements are inevitable parts of the creation process.
Sometimes, the wisest use of your energy is to hit pause on a project or the pursuit of a goal and let the situation or solution incubate on its own.
But this begs the question—what do you DO while you’re waiting for your solution or next step to manifest?
Between pandemic delays, daycare cancellations, and the ebb and flow of life, you’ve probably had to postpone or pause a project you care about recently.
Achieving any truly ambitious goal requires collaboration. It’s a marriage between our intentions and actions as well as other people or ourselves.
So whether you need help from partners and team members, or your own body, creativity, and energy flow, you getting things done often depends on more than just willpower.
If you or your collaborators need more time to incubate, you’d be served by making the leadership decision to press pause and let go of your goal for a while.
This isn’t a fear-based decision, i.e. “I need to wait because I’m afraid”. Rather, it’s one that comes from your commitment to work with greater ease and flow.
(In my last post, I explored this decision-making process in greater detail. Click here to read it.)
So let’s imagine you’ve made the choice to pause or postpone your goal. Now what?
Once you’re clear that it’s time to let go, you may think the hard part is over. Just stop obsessing and move on, right?
Well, maybe.
Depending on how attached you are to achieving the outcome you’ve been striving for, you may find it’s really difficult to exit the neural pathways of constantly thinking about it.
If you find yourself steaming with impatience, ruminating endlessly, or caught up in “I wantttt it” drama, that’s totally normal.
After all, patience can feel like torture if you’re a creative go-getter used to making things happen. (Ask me how I know!)
That’s why I made you this video describing 3 ways to bounce back after letting go.
Each of these actions will free up your focus and increase your flow.
Think of them as a productive place to spend your time and energy while you wait for your solution to arrive.
